August to me means county fairs!!  They are simply the best.  My niece & nephew have been coming up for years to continue the tradition of visiting these wonderful gems.  You can catch the Ulster County Fair this week 8/2-8/7 at the fairgrounds in New Paltz.  Check out the events at www.ulstercountyfair.com

Then at the end of August from the 23rd-28th one of my all time favorite fairs..the Dutchess County Fair!  There are vegetable competitions (which I will withhold from entering this year being a newbie gardener and all…well..right I’m not really the gardener at all..but I am great at harvesting!)  You travel through one entire building looking at the marvelous veggies people have grown..and who wins first prize???  Get your tickets now!  www.dutchessfair.com
