A pre-holiday getaway to Woodstock is perfect way to relax

October was one for the books, as quintessential fall weather produced vibrant leaf-peeping opportunities, but one of our favorite time of the year has finally arrived – the pre-holiday lull.
Yes, Halloween is always an amazing time in town, and Wood deck with black metal table and chairs topped with fresh flowers, mug, book, and throw, overlooking woodswith the celebration landing on a Saturday, this year’s parade on the Village Green will be a highlight for young and old – just be sure to wear your costume. But early Sunday morning is when the magic really happens. The clocks fall back and somehow it seems everything just slows down to a relaxing pace.

It starts with that extra hour of sleep and continues right on through to the winter solstice.
The crowds in town have dissipated, but the museums, restaurants and music venues are still wide open and ready for visitors. Our local merchants have time to converse about the hand-crafted goods on their shelves and chefs are cooking amazing dishes with the last of this season’s harvest. The afternoon sun is still warm, and our fireplace rooms are delightful sanctuaries from the cool evenings.

It’s easy to somehow leap from fall to the holidays, but our guests say taking time in between for a relaxing moBeige room with white beadboard, bed with white and floral quilts, desk and chair, and fireplace with flat screen tvuntain getaway is a game-changer for how they finish out the year.  Whether they spend their days in Woodstock exploring the local trails (and yes, the views are spectacular once the leaves fall!) exploring the local museums or even sitting by the stream watching the leaves float past, they leave renewed. Taking time to relax may seem counterintuitive in our action-packed society. But consider a few days away as a reboot for tired souls, a recharge for life’s batteries which have been working on overdrive all year long.
